@@@^Again we refer back to the type. With the death of Belshazzar the captivity of God’s people ended and they were made free; this co-incides with the termination of the 1260 years of the persecution against God’s people by the papacy—church and state. The fall of the Babylonian monarchy was not the thing that built the temple in Jerusalem, but it was a preparatory step to it. As the death of Belshazzar was a preparatory step toward the establishment of a true temple worship, just so the death of the pope was a preparatory step toward the establishment of a true church-worship. If so, then the type clearly shows that nothing could have happened to the church in 1798 A.D. to signify that the “woman” had returned from the wilderness. This brings us to a third co-incidence.

@@@^According to the type, we must look for a proclamation some time after 1798 A.D. that would brand the so-called Christian churches as being Babylon and their worship false. This is just what happened. Immediately aft er 1844 A.D. the second angel’s message of Revelation 14:8 was proclaimed, saying: “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Therefore, it is evident that light shining through the types is the only medium that can explain these prophetic mysteries in the Word of God. With the proclamation of the fall of Babylon, it was announced that the so-called Christian festivals, such as Sunday keeping, Christmas, and Easter, also baptism by sprinkling, and other false doctrines were unbiblical and of pagan origin. But as ancient Babylon failed to renounce the pagan system of worship, and adopt the worship of the only true God, just so, present day Christendom has refused to reform or turn from these practices. The true mediatorial work of the heavenly sanctuary, jointly with the Seventh-day Sabbath as it was then taught, is also unheeded!

@@@^Though Cyrus freely offered his resources to finance the construction of the house of God and its sacred service, and authoritatively commanded that it must be built, the Samaritans, or factitious Jews, frustrated the progress of the foundation and retarded its completeness. Therefore, though the message (decree) in 1844 was proclaimed to build the house of God and restore true worship according to the law and the prophets, the type reveals that the progress has been frustrated, and its completeness retarded by factitious Jews—untrue Seventh-day Adventists. This fact is plainly stated in the “Testimonies for the Church,” Vol. 5, p. 217:

If you count yourselves unworthy of the everlasting kingdom, will you not take your hands off the church of God? @@@^But though this second decree carried additional power against the temple foes, they made the Jews cease by force of arms. The type by the second decree unmistakably reveals that there should have been another message after 1844, which with additional mention should have declared—go forward by faith, endeavor to establish a clean church and a true worship by obedience to the Word of God (righteousness by faith). The type also discloses that this second message would have been defeated and the work frustrated. Now note how perfectly the type coincides, reveals the truth, and exposes the schemes of the devil. In 1888 just such a message (decree) went forth, but the leaders at that time rejected it as the following testimonies prove: “The Lord in His great mercy sent a most precious message to His people. This message was to bring more prominently before the world the uplifted Saviour, the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. It presented justification through faith in the Surety; it invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ, which is made manifest in @9obedience@7 to @9all@7 the commandments of God. Many have lost sight of Jesus.”—“Testimonies to Ministers,” p. 91.

@@@^In Haggai 2:23, speaking of the construction of the “type” (second temple) but looking prophetically forward to the fulfillment of the anti-type (the church in her purity), the Word of God by the prophet came to Zerubbabel who laid the foundation of the type (temple), and of whom the Word says is a signet or sign for the anti-type. We read of what God is to do at that time:

@@@^Thus the @9word of God@7 is represented by these symbols. Therefore, the interpretation of them is to reveal the manner of communicating the Word of God to Zerubbabel. Not to the Zerubbabel that was engaged in building the typical temple, for he was orally instructed by the prophets Zechariah and Haggai. Therefore, as the significance of these prophetic symbols were not understood by them, they must be applicable to those who are to be engaged in building the antitypical, or spiritual temple (church), as it was previously explained.

@@@^Thus we have a candlestick for each of the two sections of God’s church while the Scriptures were being written. One candlestick and one olive tree to the Jewish, and one candlestick and one olive tree for the apostle’s, and seven for the remaining history of the church to the time of the separation of the tares from the wheat, or to the commencement of the harvest. Thus the candlestick (church) in Zechariah’s vision is the tenth, denoting a universal church; depicting the living church that shall unite with @9all@7 the saints since the world began—which will join with the church of the entire universe of God! This candlestick in Zechariah’s vision is a glorious one, which in comparison, all others stand as “nothing”—in perfect harmony with the second temple, which in comparison the first stood as “nothing.”

@@@^True then, the candlestick represents the church, and the two olive trees the Old and New Testament Scriptures. Now, “What be these two golden pipes,” which “empty the golden oil out of themselves?” We quote from “Testimonies for the Church,” Vol. 7, p. 249: “The inner lamp must be supplied with the oil that flows from the @9messengers of heaven through the golden tubes into the golden bowl@7. The Lord’s @9communication@7 never comes to man in vain.” Therefore, @9the two golden pipes@7 that empty the golden oil into the golden bowl are God’s messengers of inspiration through whom present truth is revealed, and the only true interpreters of the Scriptures. The oil represents the revealed Word of God from the Bible as it is explained through His appointed servants, and the bowl describes the publications into which these revelations are compiled. This is the “Testimony of Jesus”—“the Spirit of Prophecy.” (Rev. 12:17; 19:10.) The revelation which John received is called “The Testimony of Jesus.” (See Rev. 1:9.) Therefore, the testimony of Jesus is also the Spirit of Prophecy, because his testimony is revealed only by the Holy Spirit through a human channel. Thus the Scripture interpreted by Inspiration, is the only testimony that can be, “the testimony of Jesus”—@9truth without error@7.

@@@^If the “golden bowl” is that which contains the inspired interpretation of the Scriptures or the writings of the Spirit of Prophecy, and the lamps or churches are supplied with oil @9from the bowl@7 through the seven golden tubes, then the ministry is represented by the tubes, whose duty is to feed the entire church with the inspired Word of God only. This fact also is proven by the “Spirit of Prophecy,” as we read: “The golden oil represents the Holy Spirit. With this oil God’s ministers are to be constantly supplied, that they, in turn, may impart it to the church.”—Id., p. 188. Note, the seven tubes (Ministry) draw the oil from the golden bowl, not direct from the olive trees (Scriptures).

@@@^This golden candlestick is the most remarkable symbol in the Bible pertaining to the church of God. Its arrangement with complete number of lamps, bowl, tubes, and pipes, all of gold, with its two olive trees emptying themselves of the golden oil in the golden bowl, reveals that the last section of God’s church, is to be the most glorious church in all ages. This “continued communication” by the Holy Spirit to the church, represented by the olive branches emptying the “Golden Oil out of themselves” into one Golden Bowl, and its complete set of @9Supply Tubes@7 from the bowl to all its lamps, is to bring every part of the entire body in perfect harmony; a church without guile.

@@@^“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome @9stone@7 for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it… In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be @9as God@7, as the angel of the Lord before them.” (Zech. 12:3, 8.) “And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord @9two@7 parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the @9third@7 shall be @9left@7 therein. And I will bring the @9third@7 part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.” (Zech. 13:8, 9.)

@@@^Cunning men under the power of the great deceiver, with good words and fair speeches have sought to overthrow the faith of the saints in the word of God by almost innumerable interpretations of the Scriptures, and multiplicity of sects; making it nearly impossible for one to find his way out through the confusion, and thus keeping him in ignorance of the truth. God, knowing beforehand of these cunning devices, has prophetically illustrated the truth by this candlestick in its assemblage of parts, symbolically showing that the truth of the Bible is revealed by Inspiration only. Written words can be misconstrued, but symbols can not. Thus making it possible for both learned, and unlearned, to immediately distinguish the difference between truth and error.

@@@^The question may arise with some, How can I determine what is inspired, and what is not? The prophetic word of God is capable of answering the question and clearing the confusion, dividing the one from the other as wheat is separated from the chaff. First, “to the law and the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is @9no light in them@7” (uninspired). (Isa. 8:20.) Second, the churches who were in existence prior to 1844, fell with the proclamation of the second angel’s message (Rev. 14:8), showing that God would @9no longer@7 reveal Himself through that channel. Therefore, every theory, and offshoot or sect that has sprung from the denominations in existence at that time, @9is false@7 with no light in them. This is also proven by the fact that nearly all the authors or founders of these theories and movements make no claim of inspiration.

@@@^Note that the reason the waters are healed, is because they are “brought forth into the @9sea@7.” If the mighty river represents the saints from the earth, then the @9sea@7 must be a symbol of the sinless worlds (inhabitants) in the universe of God. As the @9river@7 is brought into the @9sea@7, it denotes that the saints shall come in contact with the eternal nations who know not sin, and being “brought forth,” we must be “healed” before we meet each other! The facts of this symbol prove that this is the last section of God’s church—the church that shall be translated without tasting death! Get ready, get ready, get ready, we are now standing on the winds of eternity—life that shall never cease.

@@@^“For the forefront of the house stood @9towards the east@7.” (Ezek. 47:1.) The position of the house proves that it represents a true worship, for thus God’s chosen people were instructed to build their temples. Israel worshipped God with their backs toward the east to remind them that they should have no respect for sun worship and idolatry.

@@@^Though this most important subject is the simplest of all Biblical truths, it has been widely confused, and largely misunderstood. The example of one man’s experience in the things of God and his justification by faith, should clear the widespread confusion, and remove the veil which has been drawn over the eyes of the faithful. “To that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is @9the father of us all@7. (As it is written, I have made thee a @9father of many nations@7), before Him Whom he believed, even God, Who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” (Rom. 4:16, 17.)
