@@@^My brethren, as you have trimmed your lamps, will you not also avail yourselves of the “extra oil” (truth), and act like men who are looking for their Lord to come? No one denies the fact of your being God’s people, but remember that the Jews also were once His people. No one wishes to affirm that it is not God’s church, but is this the only time He has ever had a church? We do not claim that there is another movement to follow. But is not the Word of the “True Witness” saying, “I @9will@7 spue thee out of my mouth?” If calling the church militant to a reformation by anointing their eyes with eyesalve that they may see, that the shame of their nakedness do not appear, is wicked as you say, then against whom are you speaking? And what other means can He use to call to repentance this Laodicean, “rich, and Increased with goods, and have need of nothing” condition? “And knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked?”
Exodus 275:1
@@@^Your accusations against setting time is like a man talking when out of his mind. What definite time has been set? Do you mean Ezekiel, chapter four? If so will you not study the subject a little closer than you have and see what it says? Do you not see that the prophetic period had already ended when the statement was made? Or do you mean to say that God knows not the length of time from one event to another, and that He @9must not@7 put it in the Bible? Do you not see that the coincidences recorded in “The Shepherd’s Rod,” Vol. 1, pp. 112, 113, proves the interpretation of Ezekiel four to be correct, or truth would not have come?
Exodus 276:1
@@@^What influence would your “words of life” have upon others if you think your dignity so great, and that of theirs so insignificant? Your actions are speaking louder than your words, saying to the poor of the flock: Look on us, and see yourselves as nothing. If a wrong act is committed against one sheep for pouring forth the straight truth, the others would be treated likewise. To such shepherds the following words are spoken:
Exodus 276:4
@@@^But though this second decree carried additional power against the temple foes, they made the Jews cease by force of arms. The type by the second decree unmistakably reveals that there should have been another message after 1844, which with additional mention should have declared—go forward by faith, endeavor to establish a clean church and a true worship by obedience to the Word of God (righteousness by faith). The type also discloses that this second message would have been defeated and the work frustrated. Now note how perfectly the type coincides, reveals the truth, and exposes the schemes of the devil. In 1888 just such a message (decree) went forth, but the leaders at that time rejected it as the following testimonies prove: “The Lord in His great mercy sent a most precious message to His people. This message was to bring more prominently before the world the uplifted Saviour, the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. It presented justification through faith in the Surety; it invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ, which is made manifest in @9obedience@7 to @9all@7 the commandments of God. Many have lost sight of Jesus.”—“Testimonies to Ministers,” p. 91.
Exodus 277:1
@@@^The message was delivered with the power of the Spirit says the messenger: “I shall never again, I think, be called to stand under the direction of the Holy Spirit as I stood at Minneapolis. The presence of Jesus was with me. All assembled in that meeting had an opportunity to place themselves on the side of truth by receiving the Holy Spirit, which was sent by God in such a rich current of love and mercy. But in the rooms occupied by some of our people were heard ridicule, criticism, jeering, laughter. The manifestations of the Holy Spirit were attributed to fanaticism… The scenes which took place at that meeting made the God of heaven ashamed to call those who took part in them His brethren. All this the heavenly Watcher noticed, and it was written in the book of God’s remembrance.”—“Special Testimony to Review and Herald Office,” pp. 16, 17, written in 1896.
Exodus 281:2
@@@^The meaning of the @9“ten@7 men” is the same as the @9“ten@7 virgins” of Matthew 25:1. The ten virgins signify the church as a body; and the “men” symbolically denote those who are to be converted to the church, and that they shall come from all languages, and nations. “Even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew;” that is, the one who is a Jew represents Christ in the person of His saints (the 144,000), “His skirt” represents truth or the church as a whole, by which the 144,000 are symbolically clothed.
Exodus 286:1
@@@^This divinely illustrated lesson is too plain to be misunderstood, or its meaning misconstrued. The only safe way by which God’s servants and His church can be free from error, full of faith without guile in their mouth (all speak the same thing), is the never erring guide—“The Spirit of Prophecy.” The acceptance of so-called truth, without inspiration, is the devil’s trap of deception, and they who advocate such fallacious teachings are the hardest and most impossible ones to rescue from Satan’s bottomless pit; for he makes them believe that confession of their errors would disqualify them for teachers, and dishonor their high standing.
Exodus 290:1
@@@^It was previously explained that Zechariah’s prophecy is applicable to the church in the time of the “@9Loud Cry.@7” Thus it becomes present truth. We quote from Zechariah 12:8. “In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the @9house of David shall be as God@7, as the angel of the Lord before @9them@7”—before the great multitude of Revelation 7:9.
Exodus 296:1
@@@^The value of the leaves and the fruit of these trees is identically the same as the @9tree@7 of @9life@7 according to Revelation 22:2, “And on either side of the @9river@7, was there @9the tree of life@7, which bear twelve manner of fruits, and @9yielded her fruit every month@7: and the@9 leaves of the tree@7 were for the @9healing of the nations@7.” The significance is that the church of God (house of David) is endowed with power from the @9throne@7 to offer @9life eternal@7 with no taste of death to those who accept the truth, and are willing to become a part of this mighty river. As this is the only section of God’s church that has been granted the authoritative gospel of permanent healing and life everlasting the Word declares: “@9He that is feeble@7 among them at that day @9shall be as David@7; and @9the house of David shall be as God@7, as the angel of the Lord before them.” (Zech. 12:8.)
Exodus 296:4
@@@^“Then said he unto me, These waters issue out towards the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea.” (Verse 8.) It is remarkable to note how perfect these symbols are in each instance. This direction of the compass denotes that the message of the “@9loud cry@7” is to start eastward when it is first revealed. The church membership being largely east of California and across the Atlantic, naturally the message must start toward the east. This symbolical prophecy reveals that the message of the “@9loud cry@7” is to originate in California. Thus fulfilling the prophetic words of the “Spirit of Prophecy” in a letter to Elder E. E. Andross: “I feel confident Elder Andross, that the brethren in @9Southern California@7 will find a blessing in reviewing the teachings of the Scripture concerning the 144,000 and bringing to bear upon these teachings whatever light there may be in the published writings of the Spirit of Prophecy, and as prayerful consideration is given the matter in all its bearings, I believe that God will make the truth sufficiently clear to make possible the avoidance of needless and unprofitable questions not vital to the salvation of precious souls.”
Exodus 298:1
@@@^Though this most important subject is the simplest of all Biblical truths, it has been widely confused, and largely misunderstood. The example of one man’s experience in the things of God and his justification by faith, should clear the widespread confusion, and remove the veil which has been drawn over the eyes of the faithful. “To that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is @9the father of us all@7. (As it is written, I have made thee a @9father of many nations@7), before Him Whom he believed, even God, Who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” (Rom. 4:16, 17.)
Leviticus 1:3
@@@^Elder E. T. Wilson reports from West Union, South Carolina: “Present truth has enraged the conference men and they are unable to cope with the situation in a fair fight, so they are threatening to close the West Union Church. But because the conference men are not thought well of there, they have chosen the local elder and a lay preacher to handle the situation on the coming Sabbath, and this promises a good interesting time.”—July 3, 1934.
Leviticus 2:3
@@@^The studies in Loma Linda were well attended, and practically no opposition was manifested by those present. At the final meeting of the ten-day series a call was made that all who were convinced that the message in “The Shepherd’s Rod” was the message of the hour and are ready to openly take their stand on the side of present truth by taking an active part in its proclamation through personal visits, hand out invitations to the meetings, and give their fullest financial as well as physical support for the same, to stand up. About three-fourths of the attendance stood up. The remaining one-fourth requested time to study a little longer. Among them were two ministers–one, an S.D.A.; the other, a former Baptist. This consecration meeting was followed by organizing the entire company, at which time Elder R. T. Nash, from the Redlands Church, was elected as leader, and Sr. Jessie Trowbridge, secretary. Having digged that hill with the “mattock” it was proposed to send forth “oxen,” and the proposition was carried by an unanimous vote that Bro. M. L. Deeter and Bro. M. J. Bingham should be the “ox” team to another field.
Numbers 1:1
@@@^Our Free Employment agency is now being organized and we pray and hope that it will prove a success from the very start . This of course will depend very much upon the faithfulness of our brethren who are standing in the light. If we move as a unit in the hand of God, we shall be a mighty power in the earth. Hence , it is necessary that strict attention be given in every line of the work, especially in small things, “for who hath despised the day of small things? saith the Lord.” ( Zech. 4 : 10. ) Therefore , it is very urgent that every believer in present truth report to our employment department as soon as he hears of any work that is to be done in whatever line it may be–small or great . Also , it is necessary that those who desire to obtain employment, state the kind of work they are best fitted for, and the amount of experience they have had along that particular line , for it is our desire to place the right person in the right job. Only those who expect to render faithful service for the least amount of money will be furnished with work.
Numbers 1:2
@@@^It matters not where you live or where the work to be done may be. We shall expect every believer to respond to this worthy enterprise whether he be seeking employment or to employ. When we hear from you, we shall do what we can to serve your needs as soon thereafter as possible. All service is to be free of charge. Employment given only to believers in present truth, must be our rule.
Numbers 2:5
@@@^Sister Hendricks sends a fine report from Sheridan. We quote one or two extracts from her letter. “I was happy to receive...the first copy of the Symbolic Code. It cheered our hearts to hear of the reports from other fields. At times we feel almost crushed by the opposition and ridicule on every hand and it seems that we are all alone, so it helps us wonderfully and urges us to fight the battle to the finish when we hear from others that are standing for Present Truth....
Numbers 3:6
@@@^We do not believe it necessary to record what sort of consideration we were given, more than to remark that the “customary” opposition procedure was followed. The meetings admittedly have as their purpose and aim to present but “one side of the question,” rather than to discover truth regardless of the consideration of how many sides such a presentation might entail. Where this principle has always led, where it will always lead, all men know too well .
Numbers 4:3
@@@^Sister Hermanson asks the co-operation of every worker in reference to perfecting the mailing list for the “Symbolic Code.” The present necessity is that she be supplied with the names and addresses of all isolated believers in Present Truth. We must all respond, in this matter, promptly upon reading these words, if we wish to see our isolated fellow-believers also enjoy this issue of “The Symbolic Code.” We have full faith this urgent call will be immediately answered by all.
Deuteronomy 2:5
@@@^“...Thus it is a self-evident fact that your dealing out an ex-communication to me was based wholly upon ‘your interpretation of Scripture as a criterion for others’ in contradiction to mine; and it is perfectly natural that the laity, with but a limited study of the question, are ‘leaning upon the arm of flesh’ (T.M. 106) rather than a personal investigation combined with a knowledge acquired by study and obedience to the truth.”
Deuteronomy 2:6
@@@^Brother C. T. _____ under date of Sept. 2 explains his numerous experiences in his travels through the middle west in the interest of the SRod which, for lack of space, we cannot enumerate herein, and has been able to interest a number of families of which several of them have already fully taken their stand on the side of present truth. Besides his public and private studies he has scattered much of our free literature. Our prayers in behalf of his efforts are that God’s word shall not return void unto Him.
