Genesis 145:3

@@@^A good faithful minister is man’s best friend by warning him of the danger involved in sin, but if that minister will not sound the alarm and give the warning, then he has become as a “dumb dog.” Not only useless but dangerous, for thus the sheep are devoured by the enemy. The watchmen are not only charged with failure to deal properly with existing sins in the church, but they are greedy as well. “Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink.” Isa. 56:12. This refers to the same watchmen or servants as in Matt. 24:48-50, who are gluttonous, disregard health reform, and do not see the danger. Read “Isaiah the Gospel Prophet,” page 25, first paragraph. The watchmen mentioned by the prophet are not those in Babylon (popular churches), but “@9His@7 watchmen” in His true church. According to Testimonies to Ministers, page 445, Ezekiel 9 is the sealing of the 144,000. Speaking of Ezekiel’s prophecy in Volume 5, page 211, we read: “The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light, and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. They had taken the position that we need not look for miracles and the marked manifestation of God’s power as in former days. Times have changed. These words strengthen their unbelief, and they say, The Lord will not do good, neither will he do evil. He is too merciful to visit his people in judgment. Thus peace and safety is the cry from men @9who will never again@7 lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God’s people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins. @9These dumb dogs@7, that would not bark, are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens, and little children, all perish together.”

@@@^“I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall @9never hold their peace day nor night@7: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence.” Isa. 62:6. (These are the watchmen under the new name.) Isa. 62:8 and 9, reveal God’s care and protection over His church. In the 10th verse is God’s command to His people: “Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.” In the 11th verse God says He has proclaimed to the people who shall live at the end of the world: “Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the @9end@7 of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, His reward is @9with@7 Him, and His work @9before@7 Him.”

Genesis 177:1

@@@^Verse 4, “But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: For the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it.” The meaning of the verse is that God’s church is in an absolute security, and none need fear. Remember that the 144,000 are sealed before this time, and their life is sure; none can harm them nor touch their present life, or the life to come, for they are living saints, to be translated. Having this assurance, none can make them afraid, and they shall triumph with victory. Quoting Isaiah 60:17, last part, and 18: “I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness. Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.”

@@@^Paul gives us the information of the fitting symbol for this section in Heb. 7:1-3,—”For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, @9without mother, without descent@7, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.” Though we mortals can not comprehend the existence of this man “Melchizedek, King of Salem,” it must be true that he is “without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor ending of life,” thus making a perfect-fitting symbol of that section of God’s church. Again we see God’s perfection in perfect symbols for the entire history of His church.

Exodus 62:1

@@@^“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing for they shall see eye to eye, when the Lord shall bring again Zion.” (Isa. 52:7, 8.)

Exodus
Exodus 127:1

@@@^“And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes, but he shall be broken without hand.” (Daniel 8:24, 25.)

Exodus 158:3

@@@^While the Revelator saw in vision the beast who bears the number 666, and the false prophet enforcing a false religion by law and miracles within the borders of the government represented by the two-horned beast, he was shown another interesting sight: “And I saw,” he says, “a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication.” (Rev. 17:3, 4.) This symbol reveals that after the woman had sat on the “heads” (united the churches) she also succeeded to sit on the beast. The beast is a symbol of the entire present world—both civil (ten horns) and religious (seven heads). As the woman sitting on the heads denotes union of churches, just so, @9sitting@7 on the beast represents internationally the church and the state governed by the same head (woman). Therefore, an international system of religion and a combination of church and state. In such a system the great men of earth will see a vision of settling the troubles of the world, welding the people and the nations into a world-wide brotherhood, fulfilling by a medium of religion, 1 Thess. 5:3, “For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, . . . and they shall not escape.” Though their intention is to reduce crime as well as wars, their hope will be in vain.

Exodus
Exodus 192:4

@@@^We quote the scripture of the first four seals: “And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse, and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand . . . And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.” (Rev. 6:2-5, 7, 8.)

Exodus
Exodus 202:3

@@@^Revelation 6:1-8, “And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny, and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. And when he had opened the fourth seal I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”

Exodus
Exodus 206:2

@@@^“And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.” “And there went out another horse that was red.” If the white horse represents the first period, then the red horse must stand for the one that followed. “Red” is the same as scarlet, which is a symbol of sin and condemnation.

Exodus
Exodus 207:1

@@@^“And power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.” As soon as sin entered the human family, it multiplied fast, like a fruitful tree. What a vast difference between the first rider and the second. No longer has he a crown on his head, but instead, a great sword in his hand. Righteous Abel was the first to fall under its edge. But as the symbol has a direct application after the flood, it finds its perfect fulfillment in the tower of Babel.

Exodus
Exodus 221:2

@@@^However, the seals, in one sense of the word, do not close. They continue and overlap each other. For instance, the inhabitants of the earth are still multiplying (Adam—“conquering and to conquer”); the wars among the nations are ever on the increase, and peace has departed from the earth. Thus, the “sword” is still in the rider’s hand. Commercialism is ever growing (the “balances”), and persecution has not ceased but is to revive, and to bring about a trouble such as never was, as described by Daniel the prophet. (Dan. 12:1.) The signs of the times under the close of the sixth seal are speaking louder and louder. But shortly after the close of the seventh seal, everything upon earth shall cease for a thousand years.

Exodus
Exodus 243:4

@@@^Thus the forerunner of Christ did, for he saw his people deceived, self-satisfied, and asleep in their sins. He longed to rouse them to a holier life. God does not send messengers to flatter the sinner. He delivers no message of peace to lull the unsanctified into fatal security. Because John warned his people of the danger and the doom of his nation, they hated him the more.

Exodus
Exodus 247:2

@@@^Six days passed without any apparent sign of a flood, but in the end of the seventh day, the pouring rain from above and the gushing fountains from beneath dashed against each other, and Noah’s prediction commenced its dreadful fulfillment in the devastation of the land. As the waters from above and the fountains from beneath covered the surface of the earth fifteen cubits upward, and destroyed every living thing by the end of the forty days and forty nights, they suddenly ceased from terror to calmness, from fury to peace, as though satisfied with the accomplishment of victory over rebellion against truth and righteousness. For one hundred and ten days they neither increased nor decreased, but held their level by a miracle. When the total of one hundred and fifty seven days were fulfilled from the day Noah entered the ark, they began to abate; that is, the fountains of the deep opened their mouths to swallow them down in the bowels of the earth.

Exodus
Exodus 254:2

@@@^As every living thing perished in the time of the flood that was outside of the ark, just so in the dark millennium every living thing shall return to dust, except the devil and his angels. Though men are teaching a millennium of peace, their doctrine shall come to naught, and they shall lie down in sorrow except they repent.

Exodus
Exodus 259:3

@@@^In erecting the second temple, Haggai and Zechariah prophesied and strengthened the hands of the people by the Word of God. The writings of both prophets bear evidence in every line, that the perfect fulfillment of their prophecy is to be realized in the last days of this world’s history. As they have interwoven these predictions with the construction of the second temple, it is obvious that the literal model of the stately edifice has a spiritual meaning for the church in the closing work of the gospel. Zechariah, looking forward to the time of the spiritual temple (the last section of the church) and its construction, says: “Behold the man whose name is @9the branch@7 and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord: Even he shall build the temple of the Lord, and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the Lord, and ye shall know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you.” (Zech. 6:12, 13, 15.)

Exodus
Exodus 261:1

@@@^The religious services in both temples were executed in the same manner, but in structural magnificence, both internal and external, Solomon’s temple comparatively speaking, was by far the greatest. But the Lord by the mouth of Haggai the prophet, asked those who were then engaged in the construction of the house of God: “Who is left among you that saw this house [Solomon’s temple] in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? Is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing? The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Haggai 2:3, 9.)

Exodus
Exodus 263:3

@@@^As the living saints witness the dead of all ages rising from their dusty beds, it will bring joy indescribable. Then to behold friends and loved ones as they meet each other, clothed in glorious incorruptible bodies, marching through space via sinless planets, and finally into the Heaven of heavens! What a glorious train of immortal beings—saints and angels, and the King of kings, the Lord of lords, “the everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace,” in the midst of them! Swiftly flying from the sin-cursed earth to the Center of centers in but “seven” days, while it would take “light” millions of years to make a trip of such incomprehensible distance! Can you perceive of an object moving with such tremendous velocity! God forbid that we should rob ourselves of glory like this. An hour’s time lived in heaven, without sin, pain or tears, fear or death, is worth more than a thousand years in tents of wickedness.

Exodus
Exodus 264:4

@@@^My brethren I beg of you hear the voice of the Good Shepherd: “Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for @9henceforth@7 [from now on] there shall @9no more@7 come unto thee the @9uncircumcised@7 and the @9unclean@7. Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit on thy throne, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.” (Isa. 52:1, 2; A.R.V.) As these words are so plain, how can we doubt, or misconstrue their meaning?—It must be that the church of God is asleep in the dust! Thy God is calling thee, O Zion. God’s church, “the only object on earth upon which He bestows His supreme regard” is in captivity; she is bound by her “neck” to “men of good words and fair speeches.” Hear the Words of thy God, O Zion, arise and sit on thy throne for thou shall judge nations. Why make flesh thy arm? Is not thy God able to save thee? Is not the “Word of thy God quick, and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart?” “For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, @9until@7 the @9righteousness@7 thereof go forth as @9brightness@7, and the @9salvation@7 thereof @9as@7 a @9lamp@7 that @9burneth@7.” My brethren,”@9go@7 through, @9go@7 through the gates; @9prepare ye the way of the people@7; cast up, cast up the @9highway@7; gather @9out@7 the stones; @9lift up a standard for the people.@7” (Isa. 62:1, 10.)

Exodus
Exodus 280:1

@@@^“For thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Haggai 2:6-9.)
