Genesis 22:3

@@@^“The living saints, 144,000 in number;” we must not conclude that only a part of the whole can constitute the number and yet be true, for the statement made by Inspiration cannot be contradicted for it reads “144,000 in @9number@7.” When mention is made of this company, it is at the same time when God makes known the day and hour of Jesus coming. If we can locate at what time of the world’s history God speaks the day and hour of Jesus’ coming, then we may know more about this company. Quoting Early Writings, page 285: “But there was one clear place of settled glory, whence came the voice of God like many waters, shaking the heavens and the earth. There was a mighty earthquake. The graves were opened, and those who had @9died@7 in faith under the @9third angel’s message@7, keeping the Sabbath, caforth… And as God spoke the day and the hour of Jesus’ coming, and delivered the everlasting covenant to His people.”

Genesis
Exodus 24:1

@@@^The analysis of the foregoing time table, proves that when Jesus was led to Caiaphas, the high priest, it was about the twelfth hour, or shortly before daylight on Thursday morning; and after His trial before the high priest, “Then led they Jesus @9from@7 Caiaphas @9unto@7 the hall of judgment: and it was early.” (John 18:28.) “And it was the @9Preparation@7 of the passover, and about the @9sixth@7 hour: and he [Pilate] saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!” (John 19:14.) As John states that it was @9early@7 when they led Him from Caiaphas to the hall of judgment, and as he also states that it was about the @9sixth@7 hour (either midnight, or midday according to ancient time), then it must have been shortly after midnight (about the sixth hour) when Pilate said to the Jews, “Behold your King,” for John would not call midday, @9early@7. Therefore, after He had been judged by the Sanhedrin they called Pilate, and then went to the hall of judgment. This was done on the morning of the day following, after they had taken Jesus from the garden—@9early Friday@7 morning.

Exodus
Deuteronomy 4:7

@@@^When God reveals something to a man which he himself cannot find, the Bible term for such revelation is, Inspiration. Hence, Jesus pronounced that Peter was inspired, and the subject of Peter’s revelation was the central theme of man’s salvation Jesus. The essential truth that had to be proclaimed in Peter’s time was that Jesus Christ was the Son of God. Consequently, Peter had a message directly from the Father of which he was a debtor to every living soul under heaven, and by which every man was to be judged either for salvation or condemnation.

Nahum 10:11

@@@^“ ‘The Shepherd’s Rod,’ Vol. 2, p. 24, says: ‘The analysis of the foregoing time table, proves that when Jesus was led to Caiaphas, . . . it was about the twelfth hour, or @9shortly before daylight@7. . . . ‘But states ‘The Desire of Ages,’ p. 698, ‘It was past midnight, and the cries of the hooting mob that followed Him broke sharply upon the still air. The Saviour was bound and closely guarded. . . . but in eager haste His captors made their way with Him to . . . Annas . . . ’ Again, on page 699, this capture is called “The midnight seizure by a mob.’ Now, at the time of the betrayal, Jesus said, ‘@9Behold the hour@7 is at hand.’ (Matt. 26:45.) These statements clearly teach that Jesus was betrayed into the hands of sinners (the heart of the earth) at, or just shortly after, midnight. But ‘The Shepherd’s Rod,’ Vol. 2, tabulates the time of the three days and three nights as beginning at sunrise. This seems to be a glaring contradiction. Can you clear it?

Nahum 11:1

@@@^Besides the evidence found in the illustration on page 22 of “The Shepherd’s Rod,” Vol. 2, the very statement, itself, which the questioner quotes from “The Shepherd’s Rod,” proves that the “Rod” is speaking of Jesus’ being led to Caiaphas, the high priest, and that it was about the twelfth hour, or “shortly before daylight.” This statement does not say that either the “midnight seizure” or the trial before Annas was about sunrise, but rather that when Jesus was brought for trial before Caiaphas it was “about the twelfth hour, or shortly before daylight,” which, of course, allows for the passing of several hours from the time that Jesus was seized in the garden until the time He was taken before Caiaphas, for a legal trial. In other words, “The Shepherd’s Rod” states and proves that the three days and three nights” did not begin at the time of the midnight seizure by the mob, but rather that it began at the first legal trial. (See illustration on p. 22 of “The Shepherd’s Rod,” Vol. 2.)

Malachi 7:7

@@@^As a result of John’s preaching, there “went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region round about Jordan, and were baptized of him.” (Matt. 3:5.) And “Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John.” (John 4:1.) But when Jesus was on trial, both of the multitudes—John’s and Jesus’, the ones who were first called to the message, the first born, so to speak—forsook the Lord, and there were only 120 who, on the day of Pentecost, received the power of the Spirit. Then a second multitude came into the church and took the place of the first which went out.

2 Corinthians 23:14

@@@^Had the churches today taught the prophecies and the doctrines to the exclusion of the love of Jesus, then of course the @9Rod@7 would have dwelt more extensively on the love of Jesus than on the prophecies. But as the opposite is the case, the love of Jesus being magnified to the neglect of the prophecies, then of course our greatest need is to study the prophecies.

2 Corinthians
Colossians 10:2

@@@^John’s record of the trial states that Jesus was in Pilate’s judgment hall at “about the sixth hour” (John 19:14), whereas Mark’s record of the crucifixion states that Jesus was hanging on the cross at “the sixth hour.” Mark 15:33. Obviously, these two “sixth” hours cannot be the same, for at the first sixth hour He was on trial in Pilate’s judgment hall, whereas at the next “sixth hour” (three hours after He was crucified, and while He was hanging on the cross) the sun became darkened: after three more hours, — from “the sixth hour” to “the ninth hour,” when the sun again appeared (Mark 15:33), — Jesus died (Mark 15:37).

@@@^@9“Let us compare these statements of Mrs. White’s and see how they compare with the Bible or foregoing scriptures; First the scriptures tell us positively that when Jesus went into heaven he went into the presence of God and sat down on his right hand. Mrs. White denies this and says that Jesus went into heaven into the first apartment of the sanctuary and ministered before the veil which was before God for eighteen centuries. How could Jesus be in the presence of God and on his right hand and at the same time be ministering before him with an intervening veil between? Would it not be much better to reject what Mrs. White says on this point and accept the Word of God? If we accept Mrs. White’s statement do we not have to deny the Bible? @7

2 Timothy 13:9

@@@^7. “Jesus said, ‘Ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: for the Father himself loveth you.’ ‘I have chosen you, . . . that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.’ But to pray in the name of Jesus is something more than a mere mention of that name at the beginning and the ending of a prayer. It is to pray in the mind and spirit of Jesus, while we believe his promises, rely upon his grace, and work his works.”—@9Steps to Christ@7, pp. 100, 101.

Titus 58:2

@@@^“There need to be teachers who are thoughtful, considerate of their own weakness and infirmities and sins, and who will not be oppressive and discourage the children and youth. There needs to be much praying, much faith, much forbearance and courage, which the Lord is ready to bestow. For God sees every trial, and a wonderful influence can be exerted by teachers, if they will practice the lessons which Christ has given them. But will these teachers consider their own wayward course, that they make very feeble efforts to learn in the schools of Christ and practice Christlike meekness and lowliness of heart? The teachers should be themselves in obedience to Jesus Christ, and ever practicing His words, that they may exemplify the character of Jesus Christ to the students. Let your light shine in good works, in faithful watching and caring for the lambs of the flock, with patience, with tenderness, and the love of Jesus in your own hearts.” — @9Id.@7, p. 269.

13:5

@@@^“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the Devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He was afterward an hungered. And when the tempter came to Him, he said, If Thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the Devil taketh Him up into the holy city, and sitteth Him on a pinnacle of the temple, and saith unto Him, If Thou be the Son of God, cast Thyself down: for it is written, He shall give His angels charge concerning Thee: and in their hands they shall bear Thee up, lest at any time Thou dash Thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the Devil taketh Him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; and saith unto Him, All these things will I give Thee, if Thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. Then the Devil leaveth Him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto Him.” Matt. 4:1-11.

38:1

@@@^Because the work of Jesus was of tremendous importance and of great consequence, God was exceedingly particular about the parentage of Jesus. For this reason he chose the lineage of Abraham (a good tree), of Isaac, Jacob, Judas, Jesse, David, and down through the line of lineage to Joseph, who became the husband of Mary. Even though Joseph was to be but a foster father to Jesus, God was particular in choosing him.

6:3

@@@^Here it is seen that as the prophecies were unfolded to John by one of his brethren, thereby was revealed to him the Testimony of Jesus, the Spirit of Prophecy. Plainly, then, an inspired servant of God who bears a message to his brethren, bears the Testimony of Jesus to them. To illustrate: Suppose the Lord Jesus communicated a personal message to you by a messenger, would not His message be His testimony to you? And should God endow the messenger with the gift of His Spirit to unfold to you the prophecies which are in the Scriptures, would he not be coming to you with the Spirit of Prophecy?

21:2

@@@^@0@9John 14:6 — “Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.”@7@^From this we see that Jesus is the only way to the Kingdom. The idea, then, that there are many ways whereas there is but one Jesus, and that they all lead to the Kingdom Eternal, is only a “hum of a humbug” that unsanctified hearts like to listen to. They are of those who are dodging the porter at the “Door,” of those who know that their deeds cannot stand inspection.

4:2

@@@^To avoid being seen in the company of Jesus, Nicodemus came to Him, not by day, but secretly by night, whereas the young ruler came to Jesus not only openly by day, but also while a multitude were with Jesus. The rich young ruler’s basic hindrance, therefore, was his wealth, and Nicodemus’ basic hindrance was his pride. Plainly, then, the one’s ailment called for one kind of treatment, and the other’s ailment called for another kind of treatment.

5:4

@@@^@0@9Verses 4-8 — “Nicodemus saith unto Him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.”@7@^Nicodemus’ acknowledgment that Jesus was the Son of God made his case exceedingly bad. Knowing who Jesus was, he should not have been ashamed to be seen in His company, nor should he have been afraid of His enemies. He should have considered it a privilege to associate with the Son of God, with a Heavenly Being. But inasmuch as Nicodemus was ashamed to be seen with Him, and was proud to be with Pharisees, he needed to bury the “old man,” and to arise in newness of life — needed to be born again.

6:3

@@@^For Jesus to become one with us He had to be born again; He had to become an earthly man. And for us to be one with Him, we have to be born again, born of the Spirit. The difference is that Jesus was first born a spiritual, a Divine being, and second a human being; whereas we are first born human beings, and second spiritual beings. Prophetically speaking of Jesus’ birth, the prophet Isaiah wrote:

20:2

@@@^Let us consider another example, this one in Jesus’ time. The Jews in His time had even greater faith in the Scriptures than any before them. With the Scriptures they accused, tried, and crucified the Lord. The thing in which they had no faith was Jesus’ @9interpretations@7 of the Scriptures. As a result, some years later their city was destroyed, and every one that was found in it burned as rats, only because they failed to heed Jesus’ instructions:

@@@^@0@9Matt. 16:13, 14 — “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that Thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.”@7@^Here Jesus asks a vital question: Who do men think I am? The answer given Him reveals the people’s ignorance, for it seems that they should have known that Christ could not have been John the Baptist; they surely should have known that John had baptized Him at the beginning of His ministry. Moreover, Jesus was preaching even before John was beheaded.
