@@@^So in order for us to promote honor unto God and blessing unto the nations of which we are citizens, we must be as faithful in the Word of God as was Daniel and the three Hebrews in ancient Babylon, and as was Joseph in ancient Egypt, and thus national as well as international missionaries.

@@@^On the contrary, though, our implicitly minding God’s commands, doing what He would have us do, so as to enable us to pray “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man,” which “availeth much” (James 5:16), must necessarily make us a mighty bulwark against any aggression — against any intrusion upon Democracy or upon Christianity. Genesis 18:23-33 reveals that had God found only ten such men in wicked Sodom and Gomorrah, He would have spared the cities from the everlasting doom that was theirs. He will do no less today.

@@@^“And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, forasmuch as God hath showed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.” Gen. 41:38-41.

@@@^When Israel walked humbly and righteously before Him, God walked arm in arm with them, and they were unconquerable. But when they departed from Him, He departed from them and they fell easy prey to the nations. Likewise, any nation that forgets Him and mistreats His people, is doomed. Witness the fall of those great world empires — Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Grecia, and Rome. The majestic greatness and glory of their once proud dynasties is long vanished from earth, and all but forgotten, and their once mighty empires lie crumbled in the dust only because they refused to walk with God.

@@@^As prerequisite to its accomplishing this divine task, the school has from its inception been cast in the divine mould of the ancient schools of the prophets. Struck from this divine pattern, its entire educational structure has for its foundation the Word of God; and for its study, the grand object of all study: to learn the will of God, the sole knowledge that fits for citizenship in the “kingdom prepared...from the foundation of the world.” Matt. 25:34

@@@^A strictly non-speculative inquiry into the divine scheme of things, into the Absolute and Its unities. Approach is made objectively in the light of revealed knowledge. The aim is progressive elevation and enlargement of the soul’s horizons, and its consequent activation on the divine plane of living, as the only truly good and more abundant life — that which is measured by the life of God. Accordingly, its primary foci of exploration are the immensity and diversity of the love of God.

@@@^Shun laughing, talking, common whispering, and unnecessary moving about before, during, or after meetings. Such deportment profanes the house of God. Remember that God is in His sanctuary and that only an irreverent soul will engage in such deportment.

@@@^“You can see from these passages,” they told us, “that unless we heed the warnings from God we are liable to fall into the same mistakes as did all who thought themselves rich and in need of nothing more, and who as a result rejected God’s messengers, and warned their flocks against His messages.

@@@^“‘Precious light is to shine forth from the word of God, and let no one presume to dictate what shall or what shall not be brought before the people in the messages of enlightenment that He shall send, and so quench the Spirit of God. Whatever may be his position of authority, no one has a right to shut away the light from the people. When a message comes in the name of the Lord to His people, no one may excuse himself from an investigation of its claims. No one can afford to stand back in an attitude of indifference and self-confidence and say: “I know what is truth. I am satisfied with my position. I have set my stakes, and I will not be moved away from my position, whatever may come. I will not listen to the message of this messenger for I know that it cannot be truth.” It was from pursuing this very course that the popular churches were left in partial darkness, and that is why the messages of heaven have not reached them.’ —@9Testimonies On Sabbath School Work@7, p. 65; @9Counsels On Sabbath School Work@7, p. 28.

@@@^Nearly all insisted that our running away from the @9Rod@7 and warning others to keep away from It, is stupid. “Why not face It?” they asked, then went on saying: “Has not God told us to try the spirits (1?John 4:1)? And to hold fast to that which is good (1 Thess. 5:21)? Why are we not mindful of Him? Is it possible that we should know better than He! Try the spirit of the @9Rod@7. If It be of God, take It; and if It be not of Him, prove it. Since closing our eyes against the @9Rod@7 has not caused It to disappear, or to cease haunting us, we ought to know by now that our closed-eye-tactics are as sensible as an ostrich’s sticking her head into sand to get away from a hound. Moreover, our talking against the @9Rod@7 is doing as much as the wind’s blowing against fire; it intensifies it. And casting out the Rodists is making them martyrs, not heretics. Rome tried all these methods but failed to stop the incursion of so-called heretics.

@@@^..Let me tell you that the Lord will work in this last work in a manner very much out of the common order of things, and in a way that will be contrary to any human planning. There will be those among us who will always want to control the work of God, to dictate even what movements shall be made when the work goes forward under the direction of the angel who joins the third angel in the message to be given to the world. God will use ways and means by which it will be seen that He is taking the reins in His own hands....” — @9Id.@7, p. 300.

@@@^It is our duty brother, sister, to tell those heresy teachers that the term “first fruits” definitely implies that there are to be second fruits, just as does the term “first resurrection” (Rev. 20:5) definitely imply that there is to be a second resurrection. Tell them that they had better not meddle with the Word of God. Tell them that since Inspiration does not say that the great multitude are the resurrected ones, they have no right to say that they are the resurrected. Tell them that their adding the word “resurrected,” and their taking away the words “second fruits” which are implied by the term “first fruits,” is nothing short of deliberately adding to, and taking from, the Word of God.

@@@^“For,” says the Lord, “I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” Rev. 22:18-20.

@@@^He does not seek pity from others, neither does he pity himself; he refuses to waste time blaming others for unpleasant situations or reverses or limitations; neither does he expect praise for his deeds of worth. He never blows his own horn. It is enough for him to know that he is serving God, that God will reward him openly. In addition, too, he is always ready to hear; he is

@@@^He is aware that God’s Kingdom is made up of “mature” Christians, “not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing.” He therefore never wastes his time looking for specks or beams in another’s eye (Matt. 7: 1-5). If anything, he searches to see that there is nothing in his own eye. He knows that God has not made him a judge of His people, or corrector of heretics. He does what Truth says, and those who wish to fall in line may do so, but he never tries to push them over to his side.

@@@^“I saw that if any held on to their property, and did not inquire of the Lord as to their duty, He would not make duty known, and they would be permitted to keep their property , and in the time of trouble it would come up before them like a mountain to crush them, and they would try to dispose of it, but would not be able. I heard some mourn like this: ‘The cause was languishing, God’s people were starving for the truth, and we made no effort to supply the lack; now our property is useless. Oh, that we had let it go, and laid up treasure in heaven!’ I saw that a @9sacrifice@7 did not increase, but it decreased and was @9consumed@7, I also saw that God had not required all of His people to dispose off their property at the same time, but if they desired to be taught, He would teach them, in a time of need, when to sell and how much to sell. Some have been required to dispose of their property in times past to sustain the Advent cause, while others have been permitted to keep theirs until a time of need, Then, as the cause needs it, their duty is to sell.”-“Early Writings,” page 57.

@@@^We see each passing day more and more that God requires His people to gladly support His cause, first by their tithes and offerings, (Malachi 3: 8-10),and at last by selling all, if they would enter into life eternal. He who takes part in the first of His requirements, will at last with joy go all the way by selling all when God gives the command. Thus only may he joyfully buy the “field” with the great “treasure.”

@@@^Once again we stand at the threshold of the beginning of Days, solemnly looking back in perspective upon what we have been; hopefully looking forward in vision to what we may become. Day of reckoning that it is, yet of thanksgiving to God for His love and mercies, and of rejoicing hope and faith for victorious, redemptive progress ahead—truly it is our day of days. God grant that, of all so far, this may be the most memorable—the most inspiring.
10:3
@@@^“The battle is raging more and more against us here, as the leading brethren and church members are getting to realize that they are not merely fighting against two young ladies who might appear very small in their eyes, but rather against God’s Truth and his judgment message to the people of God at this time.

@@@^“The impression I received when I arrived at Mt. Carmel was of a people with a Christ-like spirit, who are striving to enter in at the strait gate; a people who praise God the @9Rod@7 did arrive to reform and revive; a people who are making their calling and election sure by setting their affections on things above. My goal, hope, and aspiration is to ‘study’ to shew [myself] approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of Truth.’ My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I desire to remain faithful and to continue to strive to enter in at the strait gate, and be among those who will stand with the Lamb on Mount Sion.”—A new student from Mississippi.
